What do you hope to accomplish serving on the NW Grand Chamber Board of Directors?

“My hope is that we continue to grow. Be a place for business owners to confide and grow in. As well as help the community in every way possible. I want business owners of any type to feel welcomed and that we want them all to succeed. There is room for everyone.”

Rachel Regenold, Co-owner ~ MCR Plumbing ~ Vice President Chamber Board of Directors

more about The Greater Northwest Grand County Chamber of commerce

In 2022 a group of main street business owners in Granby identified a need for a membership-based Chamber of Commerce to promote the interests of the business community. With the Granby Chamber of Commerce converting to Destination Granby and becoming a 501c3, no longer being a membership-based Chamber of Commerce (501c6), the Chamber function was no longer being fulfilled. So, The Greater NW Grand Chamber of Commerce was born.

We are a regional Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce is a member driven and member focused 501(c)6 non-profit organization. As such we are fulfilling the need for a member-based, and serving, business group in Granby and beyond. Based in Granby but concerned with the interests of the entire Northwest Grand County business community, including our incredible array of family-run agricultural resources, we choose to create partnerships with any individual or organization (be it governmental, other Chambers, non-profits, community or educational) that align with our mission. We seek to effectively amplify the messages and broaden the profile of our many and varied member businesses, and the amenities they provide to our community and our visitors, and to promote their interests in ways that support their viability and long-term success resulting in a vibrant, dynamic, and resilient small business community. To do so we are building a repository of data, facilitating business to business collaboration and support, putting on events focused on our consumers and thus our business' bottom lines and bringing educational resources to busy and often overwhelmed owners and managers in ways that are conducive to their time constraints and sensitive to their needs for targeted, effective solutions that show immediate results. Powered by bold, creative and energetic entrepreneurs and knowledgeable, dedicated and community-minded volunteers we are already experiencing the power of their on the ground, real world and purpose driven synergy in building our organization. We are committed and excited to take our beautiful baby into organizational adulthood with adherence to first principles and best practices in ethical and transparent administration and stewardship.

We considered the 2022 (first annual) Small Business Saturday, Your Hometown Holiday Scavenger Hunt Event, to be our unofficial launch. We were given so much energy when 27 local businesses participated and by the vast number of consumers that enjoyed visiting the businesses throughout the event. The level of interest and the spirit of collaboration we saw propelled us to make this idea of a new Chamber a reality. In 2023 we held the second annual Small Business Saturday Scavenger Hunt event officially as the Chamber and added many more participating businesses and significantly grew the participation! It was a resounding success and many participating businesses commented that they were thankful for the extra business and positive responses from the public.

Small Businesses are the backbone of our economy. They also act as the backbone of small towns and communities economically and in many other important ways. They are places where families work together, where people risk everything for a dream, where the shopping, entertainment, and dining needs of locals and visitors are met with a welcoming smile you may not find at a large chain or corporate entity. Entrepreneurs that take on the workload, the postponed vacations, the lack of health insurance or benefits, the paperwork, regulations, the vagrancies of the economy, supply chains, workforce issues and more are generally hardwired to do what they do. Thank goodness they are because it's not for everyone! As a Chamber of Commerce, we will serve these remarkable and special people and entities that make up our membership because we get it, and them, and know that when they succeed, the larger community benefits.

We plan to support ourselves primarily with private funding, through membership dues, sponsorships, and donations. We feel this best ensures adherence to our mission of transparency, avoiding conflicts of interest, and being an effective collective voice when petitioning, advocating for policy positions, and giving needed input to government agencies as they shape policy.

We are building the Greater Northwest Grand County Chamber of Commerce with care and on a foundation of on-the-ground, grassroots data and input and we are so excited and honored to support an ever more vibrant, dynamic and resilient small business community for our Colorado mountain neighbors.
